Tollie

Tollie Records was founded in 1957 by the American music executive and producer, Jim McGuinn, in Los Angeles, California. Initially focusing on pop and rock music, the label gained prominence in the early 1960s, particularly for its association with the burgeoning folk-rock movement. Notable artists included The Byrds, whose hit "Mr. Tambourine Man" helped define the sound of the era. Tollie also released music from other influential acts, such as The Four Seasons and The New Christy Minstrels. The label's most significant period was in the mid-1960s, when it operated as a subsidiary of the larger Columbia Records. However, by the late 1960s, Tollie's prominence waned, and it eventually ceased operations in the early 1970s. Despite its relatively short lifespan, Tollie's contributions to the folk-rock genre and its role in the careers of key artists left a lasting impact on the music industry.
