Pride

Pride Records was founded in 1976 by the American musician and producer, David "Dave" McCabe, primarily to promote disco music during the genre's peak. The label quickly gained prominence in the late 1970s and early 1980s, becoming known for its vibrant roster of artists who contributed to the disco and dance music scenes. Notable artists included the likes of The Village People and Gloria Gaynor, whose hits helped define the era. In the mid-1980s, as disco's popularity waned, Pride Records adapted by exploring genres such as R&B and pop, but it struggled to maintain its earlier success. The label's influence persisted, particularly in the LGBTQ+ community, where it became synonymous with disco culture. Although Pride Records eventually ceased operations, its legacy endures through its contributions to the evolution of dance music and its role in promoting diversity within the music industry.
