Ovation

Ovation Records was founded in 1970 by producer and entrepreneur John D. Loudermilk, aiming to create a platform for diverse musical genres, particularly in folk, rock, and country. The label gained prominence in the 1970s, releasing albums from notable artists such as the folk-rock group The New Seekers and country singer-songwriter John Denver. Ovation was known for its innovative approach, including the use of the "Ovation" guitar, which became synonymous with its sound. Throughout the 1980s, the label expanded its roster, featuring artists like the jazz fusion group The Rippingtons and singer-songwriter Dan Fogelberg. Despite its initial success, the label faced challenges in the 1990s, leading to a decline in prominence. Ovation's legacy lies in its contribution to the folk and country genres, as well as its role in promoting artists who would go on to achieve significant acclaim in the music industry.
