Night Hawk

Night Hawk Records was founded in 1955 by music producer and entrepreneur Johnny Vincent in Jackson, Mississippi. Initially focused on rhythm and blues, the label quickly gained prominence for its unique sound and regional influence. During the late 1950s and early 1960s, Night Hawk became known for its roster of notable artists, including blues musicians like Jimmy Reed and the soulful stylings of artists such as Joe Tex. The label's output reflected the burgeoning rock and roll and soul movements, contributing significantly to the musical landscape of the time. In the 1970s, Night Hawk expanded its catalog to include funk and disco, adapting to changing musical trends while maintaining its roots in R&B. Though the label's prominence waned in the late 1980s, Night Hawk's legacy endures through its influential recordings and its role in shaping the sounds of American popular music, particularly in the genres of blues and soul.
