Maverick

Maverick Records was founded in 1992 by pop icon Madonna and her manager, Freddy DeMann, as a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Records. The label aimed to promote innovative artists across various genres, particularly pop, rock, and alternative music. In its early years, Maverick gained recognition for signing influential artists such as Alanis Morissette, whose album "Jagged Little Pill" (1995) became a massive success, and the band Prodigy, known for their electronic music. Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, Maverick expanded its roster to include diverse acts like Michelle Branch and the band The Deftones. However, by the mid-2000s, the label faced challenges, leading to a decline in its prominence. In 2004, Madonna left Maverick, and the label was eventually absorbed into Warner Bros. Records. Despite its closure, Maverick's legacy endures through its impact on the music industry and the successful careers of its artists.
