Invictus

Invictus Records was founded in 1969 by former Motown executives Lamont Dozier, Brian Holland, and Eddie Holland, aiming to create a platform for innovative soul and R&B music. The label gained prominence in the early 1970s, known for its distinctive sound and artist development. Key artists included the Chairmen of the Board, Freda Payne, and 100 Proof (Aged in Soul), who contributed to the label's success with hits like "Give Me Just a Little More Time" and "Band of Gold." Invictus was notable for its focus on crossover appeal, blending soul with pop elements, which helped it achieve commercial success. The label's influence waned by the late 1970s, leading to its eventual closure. Despite its relatively short lifespan, Invictus Records left a lasting legacy in the music industry, remembered for its contributions to the evolution of soul music and the careers it launched.
