Delicious Vinyl

Delicious Vinyl was founded in 1987 by Matt Dike and Michael Ross in Los Angeles, California. The label emerged as a significant player in the hip-hop scene, particularly known for its distinctive blend of hip-hop, funk, and pop influences. Its early success was marked by the release of tracks from influential artists such as Young MC, whose hit "Bust a Move" topped charts in 1989, and Tone-Loc, known for "Wild Thing" and "Funky Cold Medina." Throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s, Delicious Vinyl became synonymous with the West Coast hip-hop sound, contributing to the genre's mainstream popularity. The label also ventured into other genres, including alternative rock and electronic music. Despite facing challenges in the mid-1990s, Delicious Vinyl's legacy endures, influencing contemporary artists and maintaining a cult following for its classic releases. The label continues to operate, promoting both new and established talent.
