De-Lite

De-Lite Records was founded in 1980 by the American music producer and entrepreneur, David "D.J." D'Angelo, in New York City. The label quickly became known for its contributions to the dance and electronic music scenes, particularly during the 1980s. It gained prominence with the release of notable tracks such as "Funky Worm" by Ohio Players and "Let’s Groove" by Earth, Wind & Fire. De-Lite was instrumental in promoting the emerging genres of house and disco, signing influential artists like The Nightwriters and The Salsoul Orchestra. Throughout the 1980s, the label cultivated a reputation for innovative sound and vibrant artwork, which resonated with club culture. Though it faced challenges in the 1990s and eventually ceased operations, De-Lite's legacy endures through its impact on dance music and its role in shaping the sound of an era, influencing future generations of artists and producers in the electronic music landscape.
