CTI

CTI Records, founded in 1967 by producer Creed Taylor, emerged as a significant force in the jazz genre during the late 1960s and 1970s. Initially an offshoot of Taylor's earlier label, A&M Records, CTI became known for its distinctive sound, blending jazz with elements of funk, soul, and orchestral arrangements. The label's striking album covers, often designed by artist Bob Ciano, further contributed to its identity. CTI's roster featured prominent artists such as Stanley Turrentine, George Benson, and Hubert Laws, as well as legendary sessions with musicians like Freddie Hubbard and McCoy Tyner. The label was instrumental in popularizing jazz fusion, appealing to a broader audience. Despite its decline in the late 1970s, CTI's influence persists, with its recordings continuing to be celebrated for their innovative production and artistic vision, leaving a lasting legacy in the jazz world and beyond.
