Cricket

Cricket Records was founded in 1954 by country music artist and producer, Chet Atkins, and his partner, music publisher and entrepreneur, Bill Lowery. Originally based in Nashville, Tennessee, the label aimed to promote country and rockabilly music. In the late 1950s, Cricket gained prominence with the signing of influential artists such as Buddy Holly, whose innovative sound and songwriting left a lasting impact on rock music. The label's notable era peaked in the late 1950s and early 1960s, characterized by its contributions to the burgeoning rock and roll scene. After Buddy Holly's tragic death in 1959, Cricket struggled to maintain its momentum and eventually ceased operations in the early 1960s. Despite its brief existence, Cricket Records is remembered for its role in shaping early rock music and for its association with one of the genre's most iconic figures, Buddy Holly, whose legacy continues to influence musicians today.
