Band Box

Band Box Records was founded in 1957 by the American entrepreneur and producer, Joe Davis. Initially based in New York City, the label focused on producing and distributing 45 RPM records, primarily in the pop and rock genres. Band Box gained prominence in the late 1950s and early 1960s, releasing music from notable artists such as The Five Satins and The Chordettes, who contributed to the doo-wop and vocal harmony trends of the era. Throughout the 1960s, Band Box expanded its catalog to include a variety of genres, including R&B and early rock 'n' roll. However, by the late 1960s, the label struggled to compete with larger companies and eventually ceased operations in the early 1970s. Despite its relatively short lifespan, Band Box Records left a lasting impact on the music scene, particularly in the development of doo-wop and pop music, influencing subsequent generations of artists and labels.
