Atila

Atila Records was founded in 1973 by Brazilian musician and producer, João Carlos Martins, in São Paulo, Brazil. The label initially focused on promoting Brazilian music, particularly genres like MPB (Música Popular Brasileira), samba, and bossa nova. Throughout the late 1970s and 1980s, Atila gained prominence for its innovative approach and commitment to artistic integrity, releasing albums that showcased both established and emerging artists. Notable artists associated with Atila include the celebrated singer Gal Costa and the influential composer Caetano Veloso. The label played a significant role in the Tropicália movement, which blended traditional Brazilian music with international influences. In the 1990s, Atila expanded its catalog to include a wider array of genres, including rock and electronic music. Although it faced challenges in the evolving music industry, Atila's legacy endures, recognized for its contributions to Brazilian culture and the promotion of diverse musical expressions.
