Admiral

Admiral Records was founded in 1947 by the American entrepreneur and music executive, Harry B. Smith. Initially based in New York City, the label focused on producing and distributing popular music, primarily in the genres of jazz, rhythm and blues, and early rock and roll. Throughout the late 1940s and 1950s, Admiral gained recognition for its catalog of recordings featuring notable artists such as The Four Aces and The Five Satins. The label experienced a notable era in the 1950s, capitalizing on the burgeoning rock and roll movement. However, by the 1960s, Admiral faced increasing competition and ultimately ceased operations in the early 1970s. Despite its relatively short lifespan, Admiral Records contributed to the evolution of popular music during a transformative period and left a legacy through its recordings that continue to be appreciated by collectors and music historians today.
