The Canadian Legion Pipe Band

The Canadian Guards was an infantry regiment in the Canadian Army, established on October 16, 1953, by re-designating four existing battalions to serve as national household troops akin to the British foot guards. The regiment, which had its roots in the desire for a unified national military identity, was notable for its ceremonial duties and public appearances, including providing guards of honor for state visits. It was disbanded on July 6, 1970, amid reorganization within the Canadian Armed Forces, transitioning its role back to the existing militia units affiliated with it.
