Stoneman Ernest V.

Ernest Van "Pop" Stoneman (1893–1968) was a significant American musician known for his contributions to early country music. Active from the 1920s through the 1960s, he gained fame with his 1925 hit "Sinking of the Titanic," which sold over two million copies. Stoneman's work included influential recordings and he played a crucial role in promoting other artists, including the Carter Family and Jimmie Rodgers. He led the Stoneman Family band, winning the Country Music Association's "Vocal Group of the Year" in 1967, and was posthumously inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2008.
