Smiley Smile is the twelfth studio album by the American rock band the Beach Boys, released on September 18, 1967. Intended as a more laid-back version of the abandoned Smile project, the album features lo-fi production and a modular approach to song composition, resulting in a collection of disjointed pieces. While its lead single "Heroes and Villains" received mixed reactions, the album was commercially unsuccessful in the U.S., peaking at number 41.
