Steve Morse, born on July 28, 1954, in Hamilton, Ohio, is an American guitarist and songwriter renowned for founding the Dixie Dregs and serving as the longtime guitarist for Deep Purple. With a career spanning from the late 1960s to the present, he has received seven Grammy nominations and has a prolific body of work, including his time with Kansas in the mid-1980s and the supergroup Flying Colors. Morse's diverse musical style incorporates elements of rock, jazz fusion, and classical, establishing him as a significant figure in the music industry and a highly respected guitarist. He announced his departure from Deep Purple in July 2022, primarily due to personal reasons related to his wife's health.
