The four commonly recognized seasons in temperate regions are spring, summer, autumn, and winter, although some cultures identify different seasonal structures based on local climate patterns. In the Northern Hemisphere, summer occurs in May through July, while winter spans December through February; the opposite is true for the Southern Hemisphere.
