Son House, born Edward James House Jr. on March 21, 1902, was an influential American Delta blues singer and guitarist known for his emotive vocal style and slide guitar technique. Active primarily from the 1930s until his death in 1988, he became a key figure in the development of blues music, impacting renowned artists like Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters. After facing a period of obscurity, House was rediscovered in the 1960s, leading to a successful career revival during the American folk music revival, including notable performances at folk festivals. His single "Preachin' the Blues" was later inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2017.
