Sonny Greenwich

Sonny Greenwich, born Herbert Lawrence Greenidge on January 1, 1936, in Hamilton, Ontario, is a prominent Canadian guitarist known for his contributions to avant-garde jazz. He gained recognition in 1959 and has performed with notable musicians such as Charles Lloyd and Miles Davis, with highlights including a concert at Carnegie Hall and the album "Third Season" on Blue Note Records. Over his career, he has been celebrated for his emotional playing style and was named a Member of the Order of Canada in 2006 as well as receiving the Canadian Jazz Master Award in 2021.
