The Koala

This species is the sole surviving member of the family Phascolarctidae and is primarily found in eucalyptus woodlands across eastern and southern Australia, where it relies heavily on eucalyptus leaves for nutrition. Koalas are known for their sedentary lifestyle, spending up to twenty hours a day sleeping, and they face threats from habitat loss, disease, and climate change, leading to their classification as a vulnerable species by the IUCN. They serve as a symbol of Australia alongside kangaroos.
