Women Strike For Peace Various Artists

Greenham Common Women's Peace Camp was established in Berkshire, England, in September 1981 by the activist group Women for Life on Earth to protest the placement of American cruise missiles at RAF Greenham Common. The camp became a significant symbol of the anti-nuclear movement and women's activism, featuring numerous protests, including mass gatherings and human chains, which drew extensive media attention and catalyzed similar movements across Europe. While the camp remained active until its closure in 2000, it contributed to key disarmament outcomes, notably the removal of the missiles by 1991 following the INF treaty. The site now serves as a memorial to the movement.
