Art Gee

Yun Gee was a Chinese American modernist artist born in 1906 in Kaiping, China, and active primarily in San Francisco, Paris, and New York City until his death in 1963. Noted for his avant-garde contributions, he established the Chinese Revolutionary Artists' Club in San Francisco and later became part of the Parisian avant-garde scene, exhibiting alongside prominent artists. His work evolved through various styles, integrating influences from Eastern and Western cultures, and he became known for themes reflecting his personal experiences, including separation from family, patriotism, and ultimately, abstract expressionism. Despite facing challenges related to racial discrimination and personal struggles, Gee's impact on modern art has continued to be recognized through exhibitions.
