Ewan MacColl

Ewan MacColl, born James Henry Miller in 1915, was a British folk singer-songwriter, activist, and actor known for being a pivotal figure in the 1960s folk revival. Notable for his songs including "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" and "Dirty Old Town," MacColl was also influential as a folk song collector and political activist, remaining a steadfast communist throughout his life. He collaborated with various artists, produced numerous albums, and contributed significantly to British protest music, becoming a prominent voice during socio-political movements. MacColl passed away in 1989.
