Russell Thornberry

Mac Thornberry, born on July 15, 1958, is a former American politician who represented Texas's 13th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1995 to 2021, as a member of the Republican Party. Notably, he served as chairman of the House Armed Services Committee from 2015 to 2019, marking him as the first Texan of either party to hold this position. Thornberry announced he would not seek reelection in 2020, after which he transitioned into various roles in the defense sector, including appointments to boards and advisory positions. He is recognized for his conservative legislative impact, particularly in defense and agricultural policies.
