Weber Marek And His OrchestraMarek Weber (1888-1964) was an Austrian violinist and bandleader recognized for leading his own orchestra in Berlin during the early 20th century. Renowned for his performances of Viennese waltzes, he later adapted to incorporate modern styles, including jazz, despite his personal aversion to it. After emigrating to the United States in 1937, he gained popularity on NBC as the "Radio Waltz King" and became a U.S. citizen in 1943. Following his retirement from show business, he donated his violin collection to Indiana University and established a scholarship for violinists. Weber passed away in Chicago at 75.
