Julian Sir

Major-General Sir Julian Alvery Gascoigne (1903-1990) was a distinguished British Army officer who served during the Second World War, participating in notable battles such as El Alamein and throughout North Africa and Italy. After retiring from military service, he became a stockbroker and held the position of Governor and military Commander-in-Chief of Bermuda from 1959 to 1964, where he facilitated significant diplomatic meetings, including one between British Prime Minister Harold Macmillan and U.S. President John F. Kennedy. Gascoigne was recognized with several honors for his service, including being named a Knight Commander of the Orders of St Michael and St George and the Royal Victorian Order.
