Al Gallodoro

Alfred J. Gallodoro (June 20, 1913 – October 4, 2008) was an influential American jazz clarinetist and saxophonist whose career spanned from the 1920s to 2008. He is recognized for his role as lead alto saxophonist with the Paul Whiteman Orchestra and for playing bass clarinet with the NBC Symphony Orchestra under Arturo Toscanini. Gallodoro was noted for his versatility between classical and jazz music, earning acclaim as a skilled performer and session artist, and he was honored for his artistic contributions, including the iconic clarinet glissando in the film Rhapsody in Blue. He also had a teaching career and recorded numerous albums throughout his life.
