Richard Crooks

Richard Alexander Crooks (1900-1972) was an acclaimed American tenor known for his performances at the New York Metropolitan Opera, where he specialized in French and Italian operas. He made his operatic debut in Hamburg in 1927 and gained fame through his long-running radio show, "The Voice of Firestone," from 1928 to 1945. Crooks recorded extensively for RCA Victor and participated in various notable performances and broadcasts throughout his career. Health issues led to his retirement in 1945, but he continued to sing locally until his death from cancer in 1972. He is remembered for his contributions to opera and recording.
