LevantThe Levant is a historical geographical region in the Eastern Mediterranean, encompassing present-day Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, Israel, and part of Turkey (Cilicia), as well as Cyprus. Often regarded as a cultural crossroads, the Levant has a rich history dating back to ancient times, characterized by significant trade routes and diverse populations including Levantine Arabs, Jews, and various Christian communities. The term originally referred to the lands east of Italy and evolved to denote an area pivotal in the interactions between Africa and Eurasia, significant for both archaeological and historical studies.
