Robert Merrill

Merrill, originally founded as Merrill Lynch in 1914 by Charles E. Merrill and Edmund C. Lynch, is a wealth and investment management division of Bank of America, headquartered in New York City. The firm grew significantly through various acquisitions and innovations, particularly in retail brokerage and investment products. It became a publicly traded company in 1971 and was notably involved in the subprime mortgage crisis, leading to its acquisition by Bank of America in 2008 during the financial crisis. Today, Merrill manages over $2.8 trillion in client assets and operates various services, including Merrill Edge.
