Leopold Stokowski Leopold Stokowski British conductor (1882–1977) Leopold Anthony Stokowski ( UK: /stəˈkɒfski/ stə-KOF-skee, US: /stəˈkɔːfski, stəˈkaʊski/ stə-KAWF-skee, stə-KOW-skee;[1] 18 April 1882 – 13 September 1977) was a British conductor.[2] One of the leading conductors of the early and mid-20th century, he is best known for his long association with the Philadelphia Orchestra.
