The Care Package

The CARE Package is a form of humanitarian aid originally distributed by the organization CARE (Cooperative for Assistance and Relief Everywhere), which was founded in 1945. The first CARE Package was sent in 1946 to provide food relief to those suffering from post-World War II shortages in Europe. Although the term is now widely used generically, it began as a trademarked term for the specific parcels sent by CARE. The organization gradually shifted focus to long-term projects, phasing out the original CARE Package concept in the 1960s, but revived the initiative during the COVID-19 pandemic to support frontline workers and communities in need.
