Diaz Ismael And His OrchestraEl Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, founded in 1962 by Rafael Ithier, is a prominent Puerto Rican salsa orchestra based in San Juan, often dubbed "La Universidad de la Salsa" for nurturing many famous salsa musicians. Celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2012, the group has released over 40 albums, received numerous awards, and remains active in the music scene, continuing to influence the salsa genre with its unique sound and performances worldwide.
