Martín De León (1765–1833) was a significant Mexican empresario and rancher known for establishing De León's Colony, the only predominantly Mexican settlement in early Texas. He founded the town of Victoria on the Guadalupe River and was instrumental in promoting cattle ranching, becoming known for the first registered cattle brand in Texas. His contributions to colonization and community development in the region, alongside his prominent lineage, have made him a notable figure in Texas history. De León's legacy continued through his family, which included several influential politicians and military figures. He passed away from cholera in 1833 and is buried in Victoria, Texas.
