The Douglas XA-2 was an American prototype attack aircraft developed from the Douglas O-2 observation plane in 1926, featuring modifications such as an upgraded engine and enhanced armament. Although it was evaluated against other designs and initially won a competition, it was ultimately not produced due to engine limitations, with the Curtiss A-3 ultimately becoming the U.S. Army Air Corps' primary attack aircraft from 1928 to 1935. Only one XA-2 was built, emphasizing its status as a prototype rather than a mass-produced model.
