Herbert Charles Abramson (1916–1999) was an American record executive and producer, best known as a co-founder of Atlantic Records. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he initially studied dentistry but entered the music industry, founding Jubilee Records before partnering with Ahmet Ertegun to establish Atlantic in 1947, where they had significant success in jazz and R&B. After leaving Atlantic in 1958, Abramson launched several other labels and developed innovative recording techniques, notably contributing to the creation of the Chatty Cathy doll’s sound technology.
