Bobby Charles

Bobby Charles, born Robert Charles Guidry in 1938 in Abbeville, Louisiana, was an influential American singer-songwriter known for pioneering the swamp pop genre. Active from the 1950s to the 1990s, his notable compositions include "See You Later, Alligator" and "Walking to New Orleans." Charles collaborated with various artists, including Fats Domino and the Band, and was recognized for his contributions to music with inductions into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame. He passed away in 2010, and his life and career were the subject of a documentary released in 2024.
