The Haight Ashbury Free Clinic was a free health care service founded by Dr. David E. Smith in San Francisco on June 7, 1967, amid the counterculture movement of the 1960s, and operated until July 2019. Notable for being the first of over 600 similar clinics established during that era, it initially focused on addressing the health needs of youth involved in the Summer of Love, particularly for substance abuse and mental health issues. The clinic later merged with Walden House and was renamed HealthRIGHT 360, ultimately closing due to financial challenges and changes in community needs.
