Petralia Sottana is a town and comune in the Metropolitan City of Palermo, Sicily, Italy. The settlement has historical roots dating back to the Neolithic era and has connections to the ancient Roman and Byzantine periods. It is notable for its link to the 2006 film Nuovomondo, which portrays Sicilian immigration to America. Located in the Madonie Mountains, Petralia Sottana hosts the headquarters of the Madonie Regional Natural Park and features several historical landmarks, including a 9th-century mother church and a prehistoric cave with significant archaeological finds.
