The Blackwood Brothers are an American southern gospel quartet formed in 1934 in Choctaw County, Mississippi. Notable for being pioneers in the Christian music industry, they have won eight Grammy Awards and seven Gospel Music Association Dove Awards, and have been inducted into several prestigious halls of fame. Their influence and popularity surged after a pivotal television appearance in 1954, despite a tragic plane crash that same year that claimed the lives of two members. The group has undergone numerous lineup changes and maintains a legacy in gospel music, having recorded over 200 albums and sold more than 50 million records.
