Al Hirt

Al Hirt (1922–1999) was a notable American trumpeter and bandleader most recognized for his hits "Java" and the album Honey in the Horn, which achieved million-selling status in the 1960s. Born in New Orleans, he gained fame for his technical prowess and vibrant performances, leading to multiple Grammy nominations, including a win for "Java" in 1964. Hirt also recorded the iconic theme for the television series The Green Hornet and played a significant role in the New Orleans music scene, owning a club and performing widely until his death from liver failure. In 2009, he was posthumously inducted into The Louisiana Music Hall of Fame.
