Bettye Swann

Bettye Swann, born Betty Jean Champion on October 24, 1944, is an American soul singer known for her 1967 hit "Make Me Yours," which reached number one on the Billboard R&B chart. Active primarily from 1964 to 1980, she had several other hits including covers of "Don't Touch Me" and "Victim of a Foolish Heart." After a successful career, Swann transitioned to teaching and later adopted the name Betty Barton. She has seen a resurgence in interest during the 2010s with samples and features in contemporary music.
