Stan Kenton (1911–1979) was an influential American jazz musician, composer, and bandleader known for his innovative jazz orchestra that spanned nearly four decades. Emerging in the 1940s, his ensembles featured significant contributions from prominent artists and were characterized by ambitious, progressive jazz compositions that blended classical elements. Kenton was also a trailblazer in jazz education, founding the Stan Kenton Jazz Camp in 1959. He achieved commercial success during his career, producing numerous hits while maintaining a forward-looking artistic vision, impacting both popular music and jazz education significantly.
