The Johnson Family Singers

The Johnson Family Singers were an American musical family active in the 1940s, consisting of parents Jesse and Lydia and their four children. Originating from Greensboro, North Carolina, they gained recognition for their gospel music and signed contracts with Columbia and RCA-Victor, recording a total of about 104 songs. They made notable appearances on radio programs, including CBS and WBT, and performed on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1958. Their music career contributed to the popularity of gospel music during that era, and member Betty Johnson later pursued a successful solo career.
