Savannah Churchill

Savannah Churchill, born Savannah Valentine Roberts on August 21, 1920, was an American rhythm and blues singer active primarily in the 1940s and 1950s. She gained notable recognition for her hit single "I Want To Be Loved (But Only By You)," which reached number one on the R&B charts. Throughout her career, Churchill performed with prominent groups and artists, including the Benny Carter Orchestra and The Four Tunes. Her career faced a significant decline due to severe injuries sustained in a fall in 1956, leading to long-term health issues until her death from pneumonia on April 19, 1974, in Brooklyn, New York.
