Jose Melis

José Melis Guiu (1920–2005) was a Cuban-American bandleader and television personality known for his work as the musical director on The Tonight Show during Jack Paar's tenure from 1957 to 1962. After studying at the Havana Conservatory of Music and graduating from Juilliard, Melis gained prominence through his performances on various shows, including The Morning Show and Ed Sullivan's Toast of the Town. He was recognized for his improvisational skills and musical contributions, such as the theme song "IM4U." Melis also collaborated with notable artists like Frank Sinatra and performed with orchestras before his death in Arizona.
