Marguerite PiazzaMarguerite Piazza (1920-2012) was an American soprano, entertainer, and philanthropist known for her contributions to opera and her charitable work, particularly in Memphis, Tennessee. A native of New Orleans, she began her opera career with the New York City Opera and made her Metropolitan Opera debut in 1951. Piazza was the first Queen of the Krewe of Virgilians during Mardi Gras and became a notable figure in charitable initiatives, including her support for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. She was also recognized for her performances at numerous Liberty Bowl football games and was inducted into the Memphis Music Hall of Fame in 2016. (Source: Wikipedia)
