Vicki BenetJohn Elliot, also known as Jack Elliot, was a prolific American songwriter born on May 7, 1914, in Gowanda, New York. He wrote over 600 songs, primarily for motion pictures, including notable contributions to Western films in the 1940s and 1950s, with works such as "Sam's Song" and songs for Disney's Oscar-winning short. Elliot was also active in vaudeville, nightclubs, and television, eventually managing singer Vicki Benet. He passed away on January 3, 1972, in Los Angeles. (Source: Wikipedia)
