Alfred Apaka

Alfred Aholo Apaka, Jr. (1919-1960) was a renowned Hawaiian singer recognized for his romantic baritone voice and significant contributions to Hapa haole music, blending Hawaiian melodies with English lyrics. Active primarily between the late 1940s and early 1960s, he gained fame through performances at the Moana Hotel in Waikiki, regular appearances on major radio and television shows, and his role on the popular program "Hawaii Calls." Despite a brief career marked by recordings with Decca and planned television specials, Apaka passed away at 40 from a heart attack. He left a lasting impact on Hawaiian music and was posthumously honored in various music halls of fame.
